Privacy policy

This policy explains how we collect, use and protect personal information when you use the Wildpaws website and app (the service). Wildpaws is an adventure app made for families to enjoy together, so we’ve written this to be as clear as we can for the parents and guardians who set it up and use it.

By using the service, you agree to the collection and use of information in line with this policy. If you have any questions, please contact us using the details at the end.

Who we are

The service is provided by RED BULLET WEB DESIGN LIMITED who collects, uses, and is responsible for certain personal information about you. When we do so we are regulated under the General Data Protection Regulation which applies across the European Union (including in the United Kingdom) and we are responsible as ‘controller’ of that personal information for the purposes of those laws.

Data Controller: Red Bullet of The Buttery, Highland Court Farm, Bridge, Canterbury CT4 5HW. ICO Registration Number: ZA223830

If you want to get in touch about your data or this policy, you can reach us at team@wildpaws.app.

In Summary:

WildPaws has no accounts and never asks for your name. We collect anonymous usage statistics (which adventures get played, for how long) tied to a random device number, to make the app better. We never collect your location, never show ads, never sell data, and never share it for marketing. Adventure photos and memories stay on your phone. Chats with the WildPaws assistant are stored anonymously for up to 90 days so we can improve it. The only personal detail we ever ask for is an email address, and only if you choose to join the Rewards club.

What we collect and why:

Data What it is Why
Anonymous usage statistics A random device identifier created by the app (not your phone’s advertising ID), device platform and OS version, app version, and in-app events — for example which adventures were started or completed, how long they lasted, tasks skipped, screens viewed, and how often features like chat are used. Counts only: the content of chats, photos and memories is never included. To understand which adventures and features families enjoy, fix problems, and improve the app. Sent securely (HTTPS) to our own server, only over wifi.
Chat messages Messages you type to the WildPaws chat assistant, and the assistant’s replies. They’re passed to OpenAI to generate each reply, and we also store the conversation on our server, linked to the anonymous device identifier above (never to a name or email). To answer you, and to review recent conversations so we can improve the assistant’s answers and safety. Conversations are automatically deleted after 90 days. The chat is intended for parents and carers — please avoid typing personal details into it. You can also ask us to delete your device’s chat history sooner at any time.
Adventure photos (“photo proof”) When an adventure asks for a photo of an object, the photo is sent once to our server and passed to OpenAI to check the object is in the picture, then discarded. Photos are not stored on our servers and stay on your device. To make adventure tasks work.
Rewards club email Your email address, only if you choose to join the Rewards club. To send club perks. You can unsubscribe in the app at any time and the address is marked unsubscribed. It’s stored separately and never joined to usage statistics.
Push notification token A technical token issued by Apple/Google if you allow notifications. To deliver adventure alerts and occasional WildPaws news. Turn notifications off in your phone’s settings at any time.
Memories Adventure memories — names, photos and details you save in the Memories tab. Stored only on your device. They never leave your phone and we can’t see them.

What we never do:

  • No accounts, no names, no dates of birth.
  • No location tracking of any kind.
  • No advertising, and no advertising or cross-app tracking identifiers.
  • No selling or renting of data, ever, and no sharing for anyone else’s marketing.
  • No third-party analytics or tracking SDKs — usage statistics go only to our own server.
  • No profiling of children.

Children

WildPaws is designed for families – parents and children exploring together. Because of that we hold ourselves to the standards of the UK Children’s Code: we collect the minimum possible, the usage statistics we do collect are anonymous, there is no advertising, no profiling and no location tracking, and content children create (photos, memories) stays on the device. The Rewards club and chat are intended for parents and carers.

Where data lives and for how long:

  • Everything is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS) to servers we control, with the database hosted in the UK/EU (London region).
  • Usage statistics are kept while they’re useful for improving the app and are periodically reviewed and deleted; you can also ask us to delete your device’s statistics at any time.
  • Rewards emails are kept until you unsubscribe.
  • Chat conversations are stored (linked only to the anonymous device identifier) for a maximum of 90 days, then automatically deleted. You can ask us to delete them sooner.
  • Proof photos are processed to give you a response and are not retained on our servers.

Who helps us run Wildpaws:

We use a small number of service providers, acting on our instructions:

  • OpenAI — generates chat replies and checks proof photos.
  • Expo / Apple / Google — deliver push notifications and app updates.
  • Supabase — hosts our database (UK/EU region).
  • Our own virtual server hosting provider.

We use your information to:

  • Provide and run the service, including your account and adventures.
  • Keep the service working, fix problems and improve it over time.
  • Send you club updates about new adventures and rewards, where you’ve asked us to.
  • Respond to you when you get in touch.
